Ashley T. Atwater, Principal

As Principal of MBB Affiliates, Ashley Atwater brings over 18 years of expertise in commercial real estate to guide the firm’s strategic vision and lead its day-to-day operations. She manages the property management team, nurtures client relationships, and collaborates closely with engineering and accounting teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Ashley also leads the firm’s business development initiatives and corporate marketing strategies.

Her previous experience spans investment sales and office leasing with Grubb & Ellis, as well as property and facility management at a Cushman & Wakefield affiliate, where she oversaw a broad portfolio of office, medical office, and light industrial assets. She has also led lead generation and business development efforts across private, institutional, and public sectors.

 

Ashley is an active member of several industry organizations, including CREW DC, the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA), and African American Real Estate Professionals (AAREP). She is also a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management fellow and serves on the board of the Marshall B. Bass Children’s Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children’s causes.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Wisconsin School of Business.

Ashley was recognized with the Emerging Leader Award from AAREP-DC in 2019, and she was named a Woman of Influence by GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum in 2020 for her work in property and facility management.

Michael J. Hubbard, Vice President of Operations & Engineering

As Vice President of Operations & Engineering at MBB Affiliates, Michael Hubbard brings more than 20 years of experience and technical expertise to lead the firm’s engineering practices, sustainability initiatives, and facility operations. A LEED Green Associate, Michael partners closely with the Operations and Accounting teams to drive cost savings, improve operational efficiencies and implement cutting-edge technologies and best practices across the firm’s portfolio. Michael’s expertise spans across a wide range of regulatory and compliance areas, including OSHA, Hazmat, ADA, EPA, IAQ regulations, and both local and federal building codes.

Before joining MBB Affiliates, Michael managed the P&L for Powercor Services, LLC, overseeing a broad range of services including MEP systems, engineering, electrical testing, EPMS/BMS controls, SCADA systems, and general contracting. Earlier in his career, at Johnson Controls, Inc., he developed enterprise energy management solutions using KPI dashboards and building analytics for clients across the Northeast. He also was responsible for over 2.5 million square feet of institutional-grade office and multifamily properties, where he led complex capital improvement projects and multi-million-dollar renovations. Michael started his professional career with Hines Interest, LLC. 

Michael is an active member of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), reflecting his ongoing commitment to sustainable building practices.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from National Louis University (Wheeling Campus) and an Associate of Applied Science in Mechanical and Electrical Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, while serving his country in the U.S. Air Force.
